The Confidante is the gripping French original series produced by MAX. The official synopsis reveals that this psychological thriller follows Christelle "Chris" Blandin, a rock music-obsessed Parisian, who, after witnessing the harrowing November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks, quickly latches onto a community of survivors. Claiming that her best friend Vincent was one of dozens critically injured at the Bataclan Theatre, Chris becomes an indispensable resource for the group, working her way into a prominent role in a survivors' association. Though her commitment seems relentless, discrepancies begin to pepper her story – raising serious doubts among the true victims of the tragedy. A thought-provoking four-part limited series, THE CONFIDANTE questions the very nature of truth… and the web of lies left in one woman's wake.

The Confidante is a harrowing story that makes one question the very definition of truth as one woman with no moral scruples weaves a web of lies and deceit that has lasting consequences for those around her. The series paints a vivid picture of how far one woman will go as she claims she and her friend Vincent were victims of the Bataclan attacks and uses that lie to form connections with the real victims of the attacks. One can argue that when she meets Emilie (Annabelle Lengronne), one of the real victims, and shows sympathy, it's a genuine act of kindness as Chris cares for her and her son in a moment of emotional need, however Chris does not stop there; she doubles down on her pathological lies and intricately weaves herself into a closely-knit survival group sharing in the grief of their loved ones.

Is she simply a pathological liar, emotional pariah, or is she someone who is so pathetically desperate to feel a connection that she brazenly takes advantage of these survivors for a chance to feel needed? Calamy is fantastic in the role as she answers those questions with her riveting performance that will leave viewers divided.
