Star Trek: Section 31 is the newest addition to the Star Trek Universe. The movie, a spinoff of the fantastic and thrilling Star Trek Discovery, follows Philippa Georgiou with academy award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh returning as the Emperor who joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and must face the sins of her past. The highly anticipated movie premiered today on Paramount+.
Written by Craig Sweeny and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi with CBS Studios producing, Section 31 from which the movie derives, is a defense organization that carries out unsanctioned, covert operations for the United Federation of Planets (UFP). We last saw the reformed tyrannical Empress, who returned from the Terran Mirror Universe. Now she's the bar owner of a colorful nightclub and teams up with an even more colorful ragtag of Guardians of the Galaxy-esque misfits when she's recruited to save the galaxy with a surprising cameo at the end.

The series stars:
Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou:
Omari Hardwick as Alok
Kacey Rohl as Rachel Garrett
Sam Richardson as Quasi
Sven Ruygrok as Fuzz
Robert Kazinsky as Zeph
Humberly González as Melle
James Hiroyuki Liao as San
Jamie Lee Curtis as Control
In a January press release, Yeoh commented, "I'm beyond thrilled to return to my 'Star Trek' family and to the role I've loved for so long. 'Section 31' has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa all the way back when this new golden age of 'Star Trek' launched. To see her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that's shown me the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams. We can't wait to share what's in store for you, and until then, live long and prosper (unless Emperor Georgiou decrees otherwise)!"
Star Trek: Section 31 is currently streaming on Paramount+.
