The highly acclaimed and anticipated sci-fi thriller "Severance" returned on Apple TV+ for its sophomore season on Thursday, January 16. This season promises more mysteries, suspense, twists and turns as the compelling drama takes center stage. After waiting almost three years, season 2 will have 10 episodes, with new episodes released weekly on Fridays through its season finale on March 21, 2025.

Created and executive produced by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller, the Emmy-winning series debuted in 2022 and has been a huge hit since its inception. The series follows a group of men and women working at a nefarious biotech company called Lumon Industries, where all employees are required to participate in a procedure called "severance." A chip is inserted into their brains creating two personalities severing their work and personal lives. Their "Innie" is their personalities working at Lumon with only recollections within the confinements of their workday, and their "Outie" is their personalities living their personal lives.

The series stars:

  • Adam Scott as Mark Scout

  • Zach Cherry as Dylan George

  • Britt Lower as Helly Riggs

  • Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick

  • Jen Tullock as Devon Scout-Hale

  • Michael Chernus as Ricken Hale

  • John Turturro as Irving Bailiff

  • Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman

  • Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel

  • Sarah Bock as Miss Huang

  • Dichen Lachman as Ms. Casey

Season 2 picks up from the exciting events in season 1 in which Mark and the rest of the employees gained access to their outie personalities thanks to Dylan, who activates the Overtime contingency, learning he has a family. Some of the biggest reveals had Mark discovering his wife Gemma, whom he believed was dead, was, in fact, Ms. Casey, a fellow employee who worked at Lumon. Nick finds out he's part of the Navy and also finds a secret list of names and addresses from employees who worked at Lumon one of whom was his former lover, and goes to see him. Helly R, who hates everything about Lumon, discovers she's the daughter of Lumon's CEO, James Eagan, and plays a major role in Lumo's creation. She tries to warn everyone about their sinister intentions. Harmony, who was fired earlier, alerts Milchick about David and rushes to stop him.

In season two, Apple TV+ promises Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe as they continue to search for the truth.

The first episode of Severance is now streaming on Apple TV+ with new episodes released on Fridays.
