Paramount+ is rounding out the ensemble for the final season of The Chi, adding six new recurring guest stars who will help shape the show’s endgame with lead stars Jacob Latimore, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Hannaha Hall and Jason Weaver.
Darryl Dunning II will play Rafi, a hot-headed enforcer working under Nuck, whose volatility could upset the balance of power. Biko Eisen-Martin has been cast as Smitty, a former gangster trying to turn his life around after years on the street. Akilah A. Walker joins as Amaya, Smitty’s outspoken girlfriend who’s pushing for something bigger and better.
Laila Odom will portray Jordan, a nurse and Keith’s girlfriend who still maintains ties to the streets, while Liza Jessie Peterson takes on the role of Patience, Rashaad’s tough, principled attorney with an activist streak. Rounding out the additions is Anthony B. Jenkins as Devante, Emmett and Shay’s son, who moves in with Emmett and Kiesha after running into trouble at school.
As The Chi heads into its final season, the new characters are expected to weave into the show’s core storylines, adding new tensions and emotional stakes to the South Side drama.
The series has built a loyal following over its run for its layered characters and grounded storytelling, and its final chapter is poised to bring those arcs to a close.
Paramount+ has not yet announced a premiere date for the final season. Catch up on seasons 1-7 exclusively on Paramount+/Showtime.
The Chi is created and executive produced by Emmy® winner Lena Waithe (Twenties, Master of None) under her Hillman Grad banner, and the series is executive produced by co-showrunners Justin Hillian for Hillianaire Productions and Jewel Coronel for Uncut Gems.
