The highly anticipated third season of Apple TV+'s alien series, "Invasion," is finally here, premiering on August 22 after a two-year wait. The series follows ordinary people across the globe as they struggle to make sense of the chaos unraveling around them after Earth is visited by an alien species that threatens humanity's existence. The new season will consist of ten episodes, with new episodes released every Friday through its season finale on October 24, 2025.

Created by Oscar-winning producer and writer Simon Kinberg (X-Men movies, Deadpool) and David Weil (Hunters) the new season brings our heroes together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership as the ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across the planet. Using their experience and expertise to save our species, "new relationships are formed, old relationships are challenged and even shattered, as an international cast of characters must become a team before it's too late".

Returning cast members Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza, and Enver Gjokaj, and joined by new series regular Erika Alexander as Verna Mae Potter.

The new season of "Invasion" is the best season to date. Highly immersive and deeply compelling, the series raises the bar by carefully laying the groundwork by independently focusing on the interpersonal relationships of the core characters, which immediately set the series apart within the sci-fi genre through its portrayal of human emotions.

The cinematography is absolutely stunning, thanks to the incredible talent of seasoned VFX artist Erik Henry (Alien: Resurrection), who continues to create a world of alien visuals taking the new season to thrilling heights. The core group of individuals must come together after new information is revealed, following the emergence of Trevante Cole, sans Caspar Morrow (Billy Barratt), who returns from the alien mothership two years later. The celebration is premature, the aliens are still here, and our heroes must strategize to stave off the threat that once again promises to destroy the planet.

The series' greatness is anchored by the strong performances of the ensemble cast, led by Shamier Anderson, who continues to deliver multi-layered nuance, bringing depth to his character as he searches for answers while the group faces new challenges. While previously criticized for its slow pace, this season is faster and action-packed, building to a steady crescendo in Season 3, making the payoff all the more rewarding.

Suspenseful, mysterious, and chillingly atmospheric, the third season delivers more than a few surprising twists and turns, continuing to deliver the emotional punch needed to elevate the stakes, making it one of the most entertaining series.

The first episode of the new season is exclusively available on Apple TV+.
