Idris Elba is about to take audiences on a terrifying ride in Above and Below, a new survival thriller from Lionsgate that puts three astronauts in a fight for their lives after a mission goes horribly wrong. The official trailer offers a chilling glimpse of what happens when a catastrophic crash leaves the crew stranded beneath the ocean, cut off from mission control and running out of time.
After a violent re-entry to Earth, the astronauts crash into the ocean, leaving their capsule trapped deep underwater. With no way to contact mission control and oxygen steadily running low, the crew must figure out how to escape before their situation becomes fatal. The deeper they are trapped, the more dangerous their predicament becomes.
Above and Below brings a claustrophobic edge to the survival thriller, trading the vastness of space for the crushing pressure of the ocean. The astronauts may have survived their disastrous return to Earth, but getting home is another battle entirely. With their oxygen supply dwindling and no clear path to safety, the crew must confront just how much they are willing to risk to survive.
Above and Below is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 4, 2026.
