Get ready for a spine-chilling experience with "Grotesquerie," the new horror series premiering today with two of it's 10 episodes on FX through October 23 with the season finale. The series follows a string of heinous crimes that have unsettled a small community and Detective Lois Tryon is on the hunt for the killer. However these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone - or something - is taunting her.
Produced by the prolific Ryan Murphy and Joe Baken with a screenplay by Jon Robin, the series stars:
Niecy Nash-Betts as Det. Lois Tryon
Courtney B. Vance as Marshall Tryon
Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd
Micaela Diamond as Sister Megan
Nicholas Chavez as Father Charlie
Raven Goodwin as Merritt Tryon
Travis Kelce as an unrevealed character
At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care, and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of "Sister Megan," a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.

"Grotesquerie" has been shrouded in secrecy from almost the beginning, and Ryan Murphy will have it no other way. The added secrecy has created an aura of mystery, heightening the anticipation for the series. Ryan Murphy and Niecy Nash-Betts again team up with this new venture. The last time the duo collaborated on a project was on Murphy's Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story when Betts starred as Glenda Cleveland, Jeffrey's neighbor. Now, she's back in the leading role as the determined and headstrong detective.
Another collaboration sees Murphy and Nicholas Chavez working together as Chavez is fresh off the heels, brilliantly portraying Lyle Menendez in Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, where he, together with his younger brother Erik, killed their parents in 1989 and was convicted for first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Equally exciting is the reveal that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will be in the series, marking his first foray into acting with his debut. During a press conference on Monday at the series premiere, Ryan said Travis worked several months with an acting coach. After expressing his desire to get into acting, Murphy gave him a shot. Travis is equally excited for fans to see him in his first major acting role, relaying on his podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, "I cannot wait to see everybody's reaction of me being in a mystery thriller. Kinda scary," he said. "What the f*ck is going on? It'll get you thinking now."
