Move over "Romulus"! "Alien Earth" is FX's new exciting addition to the Alien franchise, promising to scare, thrill, and terrify viewers. The latest installment serves as a prequel set in the year 2120, two years before the iconic 1979 film "Alien" that started it all. The series will debut tonight with a double episode premiere on FX, FX on Hulu, and internationally on Disney+, featuring an impressive international cast led by Sydney Chandler, who portrays Wendy, the first hybrid human.
Produced by FX Productions, with creator and showrunner Noah Hawley serving as executive producer alongside David W. Zucker, the official synopsis reveals that when the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, "Wendy" and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat in the year 2120, when Earth is governed by five corporations and cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. With the advancement of new technological hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness), "Wendy" and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

"It's ambitious, both on its scale and as a character drama," says Hawley, in a recent press release. "An Alien movie is a two-hour survival story, so when you're trying to adapt that to long form storytelling, you need to shift the focus to character and theme, and make something that is involving for an audience. The creatures and the horror and the genre should be additive, but not the defining feature."
In addition to Chandler, the impressive cast includes Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
Don't miss the new series critics are already calling "ambitious" and "dazzlingly haunting epic".
Catch the premiere episode tonight exclusively on FX at 8 PM EST. New episodes will be released every Tuesday through the season finale on September 23, 2025.
