"Chief of War", Jason Momoa's gripping new historical series, premiered exclusively on Apple TV+ with the first two of its nine episodes on August 1, followed by new episodes every Friday through the season finale on September 19. The series follows the epic telling of the unification and colonization of Hawai'i at the turn of the 18th century led by a predominantly Polynesian cast.

Produced by FIFTH SEASON and Chernin Entertainment for Apple TV+, the series is based on true events and follows warrior Ka'iana, portrayed by Momoa, as he tries to unify four major Hawaiian kingdoms, Oahu, Big Island, Maui, and Kauai, before Western colonization. Told from an indigenous perspective using the native 'Olelo Hawai'i' language with integrity and authenticity, the series is a well-known passion project for Momoa in which he co-created, directed, and executive produced along with Thomas Paʻa Sibbett.

The series boasts sweeping cinematography against the picturesque Hawaiian landscapes, with an action-packed crescendo led by Momoa's imposing physical presence and his unwavering commitment to his character. The series is brutal and passionate, anchored by the ensemble cast that includes Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale'o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, and Te Kohe Tuhaka.

This is one of Momoa's best performances to date. Culturally relevant and visually stunning, the series is breathtaking in its intense action sequences and delivery, while serving as a love letter to the history, struggles, and resilience of an indigenous people fighting for survival.

The first two episodes of "Chief of War" are currently streaming on Apple TV+.
