Sometimes doing the right thing means making the hard choice - Colter Shaw.

The sophomore season of CBS' hit drama "Tracker" premieres on Sunday, October 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT with Justin Hartley in the lead who also serves as executive producer. Colter Shaw is America's most prominent survivalist who travels the country as a rewardist, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve crimes with the help of his handlers.

Created by Ben H. Winters and based on the 2019 novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, The series is produced by 20th Television, Beekeeper Entertainment, Elwood Reid Inc., Afterportsmouth Productions, and ChangeUp Productions. Producers are Jeffery Deaver and Connie Dolphin, with executive producers Ken Olin, Ben H. Winters, and Elwood Reid.

The series stars:

Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw

Robin Weigert as Teddi Bruin

Abby McEnany as Velma Bruin

Eric Graise as Bobby Exley

Fiona Rene as Reenie Greene

Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw

Sofia Pernas as Billie Matalon

In the first episode, "Out of the Past," the official synopsis reveals that Colter investigates the strange disappearance of a missing family whose car was found abandoned on the side of the road in the backwoods of Arkansas. He makes a shocking discovery about the mother's past that leads him into the world of organized crime. Also, Reenie opens her new law firm and enlists Velma's help in setting up shop.

The Real Perspectives screened the second season ahead of its debut, and we can reveal that this season focuses more on Shaw's backstory and his family while amplifying the drama and suspense in each episode. Throughout season 1, very little was known about Shaw as he effectively used his specialized skills to help law enforcement track down missing persons and solve hard nose cases, but that will soon change as the series focuses on the mystery surrounding his father and Jensen Ackles returns with a more prominent role playing his brother. These dynamics help further connect viewers to Shaw as his past unravels.

At the heart of "Tracker" is a man who genuinely cares even though he's quick to point out he does it for "reward only in success." Season 2 shows why he cares and peels back a few of his professional layers. Season 2 also expands on the mystery of a missing girl who has been missing for over ten years, and without revealing too much, it's personal for Shaw as we are introduced to more personal dynamics that play throughout the season. Missing in action is Teddi as Robin Weigert who exited season 1, however her presence has not affected the series as "Tracker" continues to deliver both in tone, writing, and reach. The writing delivers in its formulaic approach, making this season a winner and hopefully rewarding viewers for several more seasons.
