The critically acclaimed second season of the Australian series "The Newsreader," starring The Vampire Lestat's Sam Reid, is streaming now on AMC+. Created by Michael Lucas for ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), the series first premiered in 2021 and follows an ambitious reporter who joins forces with star news anchor Helen (Anna Torv) to survive the cutthroat world of 1980s TV news.

Covering an extraordinary chain of news events, from the Challenger Disaster, to Halley's Comet, to the AIDS crisis, Dale and Helen's personal and professional lives begin to intertwine. Set in 1987-88, season two of The Newsreader dives into a nation in flu amid election drama, financial upheaval, and a cultural reckoning. As Australia grapples with identity, Helen (Torv) and Dale (Reid) must confront who they are to each other and to the world.
