The Couple Next Door is the newest thriller from STARZ and the series sizzles from start to finish. The six episode British series follows a young couple who moves to idyllic suburbia in Leeds and quickly develops a fast friendship with their new neighbors, however the couple soon discovers underneath the picture-esque setting, becoming friends with their polyamorous neighbors comes with deadly consequences.
Written by David Allison and directed by Dries Vos, The Couple Next Door is based on the Dutch series Nieuwe Buren and developed by Eagle Eye Drama for UK's Channel 4 and STARZ. The series aired in the UK in 2023 and had its US premiere on STARZ on January 17. Weekly episodes will be released every Friday through the season finale on February 21.

At the center of the story are Evie and Pete, who are expecting their first child with a history of fertility issues. They are college sweethearts, and upon moving, they are quickly ambushed by Becka, her overly affectionate neighbor, and her gorgeous husband Danny, who can easily lift appliances by himself, which makes Pete feel inadequate. That's just the start of Pete's disdain for the hunky neighbor, but Evie is quite enamored, and we don't blame her! Soon, they're spending all of their free time with the new neighbors because they're just so darn nice, and they just happen to be swingers. Danny and Becka have a very open marriage built on trust and open communication, with one rule: their polyamory does not extend to friends. The two couples are polar opposites and view sexuality and commitment differently, however a tragic turn of events leads the two couples down a path of insecurity, unfulfilled desires, passion, obsession, jealousy, and violence!
Outlander's Sam Heughan is in the series. Need we say more? The Couple Next Door is erotic and sexy, with twists and turns that leave you waiting for the next episode in anticipation. There are many moving parts in the series in a very fun and dramatic way that makes you instantly hooked and invested with interwoven storylines that affect the two couples to the point that all 4 characters are forever changed by the end of the series. It's worth mentioning that Evie is a school teacher, Pete is a journalist, Becka is a yoga instructor/influencer, and Danny is a cop, which sets up the plots and subplots nicely, one of which involves Becka's creepy neighbor.
The Couple Next Door is pure, unadulterated fun, and with six episodes, it's short enough to enjoy and highly entertaining.
