Fans of Anne Rice's Immortal Universe are in for another treat. Talamasca: The Secret Order is the latest entry based on The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches. Created by John Lee Hancock, the series is the third in the franchise after Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, and follows a secretive society called the Talamasca, who tracks and contains witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe. Talamasca premieres exclusively on AMC and AMC+ on October 26.
Headlining the series is Nicholas Denton as Guy Anatole, who is on the cusp of graduating from law school when he is recruited by a representative of the Talamasca. When he learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, up to now, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world.
Guy is gifted with the unique ability to read other people's thoughts, and doesn't know exactly how or why, but with his gift, he becomes extremely useful to the Talamasca, led by Helen, the leader of its New York Motherhouse.
Talamasca is an ambitious series. With original characters and storylines within the universe, there's a lot to live up to, especially with the hugely popular Interview With the Vampire entering its third season with the newly retitled The Vampire Lestat. Fortunately for Talamasca, it more than meets the challenge and successfully carves out its own identity with plenty of mysterious twists and turns that fans will appreciate. The series offers a wealth of opportunities to expand the universe even more than it already has since Talamasca is the gatekeeper of all things supernatural within the Immortal Universe leading to endless possibilities, not just with crossovers, but with original concepts without the constraints of its predecessors.
Additional cast for Talamasca includes Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Celine Buckens, with guest appearances by Eric Bogosian (who is always a delight) and Justin Kirk reprising their roles from Interview with the Vampire. There is something about Bogosian's Malloy that is so effortlessly engaging. Perfectly cast, he's an absolute joy to watch.

Let's meet the cast....
Fichtner plays Jasper, a mysterious American who has quietly assumed control and influence over the Talamasca's London Motherhouse.
Richardson-Sellers plays Olive, a beguiling and ambitious agent of the Talamasca.
Buckens stars as Doris, strong-willed and with an old soul, who lives with a coven of witches on a houseboat.
Schwartzman portrays Burton, a charming, rakish vampire, leading a cloistered life in a luxurious Upper West Side penthouse.
The first season (made available for review) is a great start to the series. Mysterious, dangerous, and suspenseful, it vibrantly brings Rice's world to life, anchored by the supernatural elements and a great cast who have command of their respective characters, making the series quite enjoyable. The supernatural elements are well executed and Guy brings the right mix of earnest charm who comes into his own by the end of the series when he forms various relationships within the Talamasca particularly with Burton and Fichter's Jasper who is both equally terrifying and enchanting.
The six epsiode series leads to a great finale that sets the stage for a much deserved season 2.
"Talamasca: The Secret Order" premieres Sunday, October 26, on AMC and streams on AMC+. New episodes will be released every Sunday though the season finale on November 23.
