Boop-oop-a-doop! One of animation’s most iconic characters is officially making her return, and she’s doing it with a major talent leading the way.

Quinta Brunson is bringing one of animation's most recognizable characters back into the spotlight. The Emmy winning actress, writer, producer, and creator is set to star in and develop a Betty Boop feature film from Fleischer Studios and Fifth Chance Productions, marking a major new chapter for the nearly century-old pop culture icon. First reported by Variety, Brunson will also produce the project through Fifth Chance Productions alongside Erin Wehrenberg, with Mark Fleischer attached as a producer.

The upcoming film is expected to take a more expansive approach to the classic animated character, exploring the relationship between Betty Boop and her creator, Max Fleischer, while examining themes of creativity, artistic identity, and the complicated dynamics between creators and the worlds they build.

The project signals a fresh direction for the beloved character, who first debuted in 1930 and quickly became one of animation's defining figures. Betty Boop's influence extended well beyond cartoons, becoming a global symbol whose image has appeared across fashion, merchandise, television, and entertainment for generations.

Brunson has emerged as one of television's most influential creative voices in recent years, earning acclaim for her work both in front of and behind the camera. Her ability to balance humor with emotionally grounded storytelling will provide a distinctive lens for reintroducing Betty Boop to modern audiences.

Additional casting details, production information, and a release timeline have yet to be announced. For now, Brunson and Betty Boop stand as one of Hollywood's more unexpected and welcomed pairings, one that could ultimately bridge generations between a timeless animated icon and one of today's most recognizable talents.
