The highly anticipated series for Prime Video's "Cross" will premiere on November 14. It was announced during the Essence Fest in New Orleans on Saturday, July 6. The eight-episode series will be available to stream on November 14, and a second season has already been confirmed ahead of its debut.
The series stars Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton, Black Adam) as Alex Cross and is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television. It is executive produced by Ben Watkins and James Patterson, Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, Craig Siebels, Bill Robinson, Patrick Santa, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost.
Adapted from the best-selling novels by James Patterson, which have spawned 31 stories, the first book in the series, Along Came a Spider, was released in 1993 with three books focused on Alex's son, Ali. The series has resulted in three movies: Kiss the Girls (1997), Along Came a Spider (2001), and Alex Cross (2012). Morgan Freeman starred in the title roles in both films, and Tyler Perry starred in the third installment.

Alex Cross is an African-American police detective who fights crimes and solves murders in Washington, D.C. He has worked for the Washington, D.C. Police Department and the FBI. He is also a widower with two children until he finds love again with Christine, with whom he has a third child named Ali.
According to a statement released by Prime Video, the new series follows the titular character, Cross, who is described as "a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify—and ultimately capture—the murderers."
Aldis Hodge, who also serves as a producer, is joined by Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold.
"Bringing one of James Patterson's most iconic literary characters to life for our global Prime Video customers was a dream come true, and we can't wait for everyone to see Aldis Hodge's dynamic performance as Cross," Amazon MGM Studios TV chief Vernon Sanders said in a statement. "Ben Watkins and his team have created something unique within the crime-thriller genre that long-time fans and newcomers alike will all enjoy. And with over 30 novels written by Patterson featuring Alex Cross as his main protagonist, it was an easy choice to bring Cross back for a second season."
