Ashanti Douglas and Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., famously met in 2003 and began a relationship before separating in 2013. After several years apart, fate intervened when they reconnected at an industry event. In 2023, Ashanti confirmed the rumors that they were indeed reunited and shared their engagement and pregnancy news through social media. The following year, they welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, who was born in July 2024.
