-This is Absolutely Not the True Story of the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist.

The Sticky is Prime Video's hilarious dark comedy about the "Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist" inspired by the true life story that made international headlines in 2012 when 18 million dollars worth of Canada's most valuable asset - maple syrup - was stolen from the storage facility. The series exclusively premiered on December 6 on Prime Video with six episodes and stars the fantastic, three-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale as Ruth Landry, one of the three masterminds behind the sweet heist who concocts the heist of the century.
Created by Brian Donovan and Ed Herro, the series is directed by Michael Dowse and Joyce Wong with production companies Blumhouse Television, Jamie Lee Curtis' Comet Pictures, Jonathan Levine's Megamix, and Sphere Media.
The series stars:
Margo Martindale as Ruth Landry
Chris Diamantopoulos as Mike Byrne
Guillaume Cyr as Remy Bouchard
Gita Miller as Teddy Green
Guy Nadon as Leonard Gauthier Sr.
Mickaël Gouin as Léo Gauthier Jr.
Suzanne Clément as Detective Valérie Nadeau
Mark O'Brien as Charlie
Meegwun Fairbrother as Gary Montour
Jamie Lee Curtis as Bo Shea

Ruth Landry, the no-nonsense maple syrup farmer, is having a tough time, and that's putting it mildly. Her husband is in a coma, and the bureaucratic authorities are threatening to take away her livelihood. She's up against the greedy association chief Leonard, who wants to steal her farm and land so when the opportunity presents itself, she teams up with Remy Bouchard, a mild-mannered, undervalued, lone security guard who guards the warehouse where the syrup is stored. Remy has his side hustle, stealing the syrup and selling it on the Black Market with Mike Byrne, a low-level mobster. It seems like a fail-proof plan (what could go wrong?)
The venerable Martindale proves why this series should not be missed. Powered by a powerhouse performance through the laughs, Martindale steamrolls into her character with a tone of bravado. Most dramas today are 60 minutes, and here, The Sticky, at 30 minutes, packs a whole lot of drama, tension, suspense, and dramedy in 30 minutes than most do in 60. The series is incredibly addictive. You know you shouldn't root for our three thieving heroes, wondering how they could possibly pull off this heist on such an epic scale, and yet you do through the blunders, swearing, and mishaps. You definitely will want to see Ruth stick it to Leonard.
This series takes a lot of liberties with its characters precisely because it's a fictionalized story of the actual Canadian heist, and that's great because it sets up great storyline potential for a season 2. If you still aren't sold, Jaime Lee Curtis (who also executive produces) makes a tantalizing cameo. You can never go wrong with Jamie Lee Curtis.
