Lifetime’s Sole Survivor of Flight 119 takes viewers deep into one woman’s extraordinary fight to stay alive after a routine flight turns into a nightmare, delivering a powerful story about survival, faith and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her child.
Inspired by actual events and Tammy L. Kling’s 2002 memoir Exit Row, the film stars Sarah Wayne Callies as Lisa Foster, a mother whose life changes forever when Flight 119 crashes deep in the Mexican jungle. Alone and facing an unforgiving wilderness, Lisa has no choice but to dig deeper than she ever imagined, relying on her instincts, determination and faith as she fights to survive and make it back to her daughter.
But Lisa’s battle isn’t the only story unfolding. Joy Bryant plays Rebecca Till, an airline executive who narrowly missed the doomed flight and finds herself helping the families desperately searching for answers. When a final text message sent by Lisa becomes a crucial clue, the search takes a dramatic turn and gives those waiting for her a glimmer of hope.
Callies brings an emotional intensity to Lisa’s fight for survival, while Bryant adds another layer to the story through Rebecca’s personal connection to the tragedy. Together their characters show two very different sides of an unimaginable disaster—one woman fighting to survive in the wilderness and another fighting to bring the missing home.
Part survival thriller, part emotional human drama, Sole Survivor of Flight 119 is a gripping story of courage, faith and survival delivering a powerful drama that will keep viewers rooting for Lisa until the very end.
Sole Survivor of Flight 119 premieres Saturday, September 19 at 8/7c on Lifetime as part of the network’s “Strength of a Lifetime” movie event.
