HBO is raising the stakes on its gripping crime drama Task with the addition of acclaimed actor Mahershala Ali to its highly anticipated second season.
Best known for his award winning performances in Moonlight and Green Book, Ali brings undeniable gravitas to the series, marking a major casting win for HBO and creator and executive producer Brad Ingelsby. The Emmy nominated actor is set to star alongside returning lead Mark Ruffalo in what promises to be an even more intense and emotionally charged season of the critically acclaimed drama.
Ali will play a seasoned and a well respected DEA agent in Philadelphia and will go head to head with Ruffalo's Tom Brandis, per Variety.
Ali's return to HBO is especially notable, as the actor previously earned critical acclaim for his powerful performance in True Detective. With multiple Academy Awards and Emmy nominations under his belt, his addition signals an exciting season ahead, already in pre-production, with a release date set for later this year.
Season 1 of "Task" is available to stream on HBO Max.
