Prime Video is taking us back to where it all began with Elle, the highly anticipated prequel series to the beloved 2001 classic Legally Blonde. Starring charismatic breakout newcomer Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods, the series premieres all eight episodes today exclusively on Prime Video, and with a major vote of confidence, the streamer has already ordered a second season before the first one even debuted.

Set in 1995, Elle takes us into the chaotic, colorful, and emotionally messy halls of high school, long before Elle became the iconic fish-out-of-water at Harvard Law. This younger version of the character made famous by Reese Witherspoon gives fans a deeper look at the experiences that shaped her into the determined, lovable powerhouse we all fell for over two decades ago.

Season one dives into Elle’s teenage world as she navigates tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and some seriously questionable ‘90s fashion choices. But at the heart of it all is family, especially her evolving bond with her mother. Through every awkward setback and emotional hurdle, Elle learns the lessons that will one day define her.

Created by Laura Kittrell (Insecure), the series is co-showrun by Kittrell and Caroline Dries, with Witherspoon also serving as executive producer.

The cast is packed with talent, with Minetree leading the charge alongside June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt. The ensemble also includes Chandler Kinney, Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz, with recurring appearances from familiar faces like James Van Der Beek and David Burtka.

For longtime fans of Legally Blonde, Elle feels like the perfect love letter to one of pop culture’s most iconic heroines while introducing her to a whole new generation. With heart, humor, and enough pink energy to light up a whole decade, this prequel looks ready to remind everyone exactly why Elle Woods remains that girl.
