DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures have unveiled the thrilling first trailer for Forgotten Island, and it's shaping up to be one of the studio’s most emotionally rich and visually daring adventures produced by the juggernauts.

Set to hit theaters on September 25, 2026, Forgotten Island is the latest original animated feature written and directed by Academy Award nominee Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, with Academy Award nominee Mark Swift producing. The powerhouse trio reunites after their critically acclaimed work on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

The film follows Jo and Raissa, voiced by Grammy and Academy Award winning superstar H.E.R. and actress Liza Soberano (Lisa Frankenstein, Alone/Together) best friends as they prepare to head down separate paths after high school graduation. But before life pulls them apart, one final night of celebration takes a shocking turn when they stumble across a mysterious portal. That portal leads them straight to Nakali, a breathtaking mythical island filled with magical creatures and legends pulled directly from the Filipino stories their families told them growing up.

The trailer teases an epic fantasy world bursting with wonder, danger, and emotional stakes. Some of Nakali’s legendary beings become allies, while others emerge as terrifying enemies. Along the way, Jo and Raissa are joined by Raww, a lovable but clumsy weredog voiced by Dave Franco, and a quirky group of companions who help guide them through the island’s mysteries.

But standing in their way is the island’s most feared creature: The Dreaded Manananggal, voiced by Tony Award-winning icon Lea Salonga.

The price of returning home may cost Jo and Raissa the very thing that brought them there - the memories of their friendship.

The film’s stacked voice cast also includes Emmy nominee Jenny Slate (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place, Top Gun: Maverick), BAFTA nominee Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness), global comedy favorite Jo Koy (Haunted Mansion), and Emmy winner Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show, M3GAN).
