"Didi" is the heartwarming coming of age film that premiered today on Peacock, starring Izaac Wang as Chris Wang, a 13-year-old Taiwanese boy who learns how to skate, flirt, and how to love his mom during his last month of summer before high school and before his big sister goes off to college.

The film, distributed by Focus Features, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2024, where it won both the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award and the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble Cast. It had its theatrical release on July 26, 2024. Written, directed, and produced by Sean Wang, "Didi" is also produced by Josh Peters, Carlos López Estrada, and Valerie Bush, with production companies AntiGravity Academy, Spark Features, Unapologetic Projects, and Maiden Voyage Pictures.

This highly acclaimed film, with special consideration to Izaac Wang, who is best known for Raya and the Last Dragon (2021), is fantastic. The film highlights what it's like to be an adolescent growing up caught between both cultures as he tries to assimilate at school trying to fit in but struggles with his Asian parentage from his family, which consists of all women. The relationship that he has with his mother highlights the teenage angst with emotional outbursts that feel authentic as Chris struggles between both worlds, filled with insecurity and identity crises. The film is witty, authentic, and profoundly moving, showcasing a deeply introspective narrative of personal growth.
