After the huge success of the original film, 2018's Den of Thieves, and the long delay that saw the sequel delayed for 7 years, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera scored big at this weekend's box office, coming in at no. 1 with 15 million as fans were excited to see The Lionsgate sequel. Returning for the sequel are Gerard Butler (Has Fallen series) and O'Shea Jackson Jr (Straight Out of Compton) for the action-packed movie.

Written and directed by Christian Gudegast who returns from the first movie, Donnie Wilson (Jackson) was revealed to be the mastermind behind the plot to rob the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles. The unsuspecting ex-marine and bartender had everyone fooled, including Nick O'Brien (Butler), the relentless detective obsessed with capturing the men responsible for the plot. Nick realizes Donnie's deception and brilliance at the close of the first movie. When we last saw Wilson, he was bartending in London, across from a diamond exchange, looking to score his next big target. In Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Nick is back in Europe, and after Donnie, who is with his new crew of diamond thieves, The Panthers, after a heist in Antwerp sets Nick's radar on fire. Donnie and his crew are plotting a massive heist of the world's largest diamond vault, but instead of Nick chasing after him, Nick changes tactics and tells Donnie he wants in.

The interesting turn of events sees Nick and Donnie team up to steal precious intel at the World Diamond Center fashioned after the real 2003 Antwerp diamond heist that made international headlines. Throw in the Italian mafia, and the movie takes viewers on a fun, thrilling ride with plenty of suspense and non-stop action for the dynamic duo, whose chemistry easily sells the film and sets up another sequel in the future.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is currently playing in theaters.
