On December 16, CBS released the first tantalizing trailer for "Beyond The Gates," hyping fans for one of the most anticipated soaps in decades and setting social media abuzz. The new Daytime drama will premiere on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Headlining the first Black Daytime Soap Opera in 35 years is the affluent Duprees, starring Clifton Davis, who stars as the patriarch Vernon Dupree, and soap veteran Tamara Tunie, who starred in CBS' "As the World Turns" as matriarch Anita Dupree. Soap veterans Daphnee Duplaix and Karla Mosley also star in the Daytime drama.
CBS reveals that "Beyond The Gates" is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside Washington, D.C., and in one of the most affluent African American counties in the United States. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered.
Rounding out the supporting cast are Brandon Claybon, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Marquita Goings, Maurice Johnson, Trisha Mann-Grant, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad, and Arielle Prepetit.Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli, Ben Gavin, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob and Mike Manning.

"Beyond The Gates" is developed and produced by CBS Studios and NAACP with Michele Val Jean, whose soap credits include The Bold and The Beautiful, General Hospital, Port Charles, and Santa Barbara. Jean is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner. The series has set lofty goals with high expectations with veteran executive producers in Daytime that include Robert Guza Jr., Julie Carruthers, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld. The new soap will be the first Black soap opera to air after NBC's short-lived Generations, which ran from 1987 to 1991, and the first daytime drama to premiere since "Passions" in 1999.
Sheila Ducksworth, president of CBS Studios' NAACP venture, promised the series "will salute an audience that has been traditionally underserved, with the potential to be a groundbreaking moment for broadcast television. With multi-dimensional characters, juicy storylines, and Black culture front and center, The Gates will have impactful representation, one of the key touchstones of the venture."
