"Bel-Air" returns for its fourth and final season, closing the chapter on a great series

The fourth and final season of "Bel-Air" returned exclusively on Peacock with a bang on November 25, with three of its eight episodes. New episodes will drop weekly with two episodes on Monday, December 1, and the final three released on December 8.

The original drama, a reboot of Will Smith's beloved sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," which ran on NBC for over six seasons from September 1990 to May 1996, became an instant hit for Peacock since its debut in February 2022. This new version offers a darker, grittier take on a fictionalized Will, who is born and raised in West Philadelphia and sent to live with his wealthy uncle and aunt in Bel-Air, originally portrayed by James Avery and James Hubert.

Based on Morgan Cooper's short fan film of the same name, this series was developed by Cooper, alongside Malcolm Spellman, TJ Brady, and Rasheed Newson. The executive producers include Will Smith and showrunner Carla Banks Waddles. Throughout its four seasons, the series follows Will as he navigates the complexities of adulthood, dealing with family dynamics, societal pressures, racism, and romantic relationships. The series concludes with an emotional payoff in the final season, which comes after a dramatic third season filled with weddings, kidnappings, pregnancies, and health scares for the Banks family.

In the final season, Will tries to balance the fun and excitement of senior year with the expectations that have brought him to this moment. Carlton tests his own resolve as he deals with the fallout of some very big decisions that could threaten his future. Together, both boys will help each other through this pivotal time in their lives. An unexpected power shift will threaten the brotherhood between Phil and Geoffrey, whose loyalties to the Banks family will be tested. Viv struggles with reinventing herself as she looks at motherhood from a different perspective. It's Ashley's freshman year in high school and she's working through a rebellious phase but quickly learns that the status quo may no longer serve her. Hilary goes on a journey of self-exploration.
