Ahead of Sunday's season 2 finale on June 30, AMC has announced that Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire has been renewed for a third season.

This is excellent news for fans of the critically acclaimed and highly successful series known for showcasing diversity and socially conscious themes. After AMC Networks acquired the rights to 18 of Rice's novels in 2020, the first season of the series premiered on October 2, 2022, with seven episodes. Season 2 premiered on May 12, 2024, consisting of 8 episodes. The third season will cover 'The Vampire Lestat' and 'The Queen of the Damned'."

The series, based on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles, was developed by Rolin Jones for AMC and executive produced by Mark Johnson, Alan Taylor, Christopher Rice, and Mark Taylor.

Jacob Anderson stars as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt. Their tumultuous relationship takes center stage in early 1900s New Orleans for most of season 1 and is told through flashbacks by Louis to veteran journalist Daniel Molloy throughout season 2.

A summary reveals that Lestat fully embraces his vampirism with charisma and flamboyance, while Louis struggles with his humanity. The introduction of Claudia, portrayed by Delainey Hayles, further complicates their relationship. Daniel consistently challenges the accuracy of Louis' story, pointing out the inconsistencies from his earlier retellings. In Season 2, Armand (Assad Zaman) is introduced as Louis' lover, while Santiago (Ben Daniels) is introduced as the leading thespian of the Théâtre des Vampires.

The season three logline reads: "Resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy best-seller Interview with The Vampire the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can — by starting a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others we can't tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time, and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified."

We're definitely digging Lestat as a rock star. The Vampire Lestat means more of Sam Reid with the telling of Lestat's origin story. Seeing how Lestat deals with Claudia's death will also impact him moving forward.

Interestingly, Interview with The Vampire now includes three series in the vampiristic universe on AMC.

Showrunner Rolin Jones expressed his gratitude for season 3, stating, "Thank you to the brilliant casts and crews of the first two seasons that got us to this day. Thank you to the rabid, beautifully unwell fandom that scaled the castle walls to get us to this day. Thank you to Dan McDermott and Ben Davis for the funds and tools to continue the great work of dramatizing Anne Rice's extraordinary novels. And sincere apologies to the family and friends of actor Sam Reid for the possession that continues to this day. Monsieur L extends his promise to return his body upon cancellation (may that evening never come)".

Interview with The Vampire is currently streaming now on AMC and AMC+.
