Beauty in Black is the scandalous new drama series created, directed, and executive produced by the prolific Tyler Perry under his multi-year first-look deal with Netflix. His previous films, A Fall from Grace, A Jazzman's Blues, A Madea Homecoming, and Mea Culpa, which premiered in February, were met with tremendous success. Perry will create additional series for his creative partnership with Netflix, the latest being Beauty in Black.
Beauty in Black follows a stripper's fate, which takes a turn when she crosses paths with the wealthy, dysfunctional family behind a cosmetics dynasty and a devious trafficking scheme. The 16 episode series will debut Part 1 with eight episodes on Netflix on October 24, with the second part premiering at a later date.
Produced by Will Areu, Angi Bones, and Tony L. Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios, the series stars Crystle Stewart as Mallory, a wealthy entrepreneur running her successful hair care business, and Taylor Polidore Williams as Kimme, a down-on-her-luck exotic dancer struggling to make ends meet after her mother kicks her out, falling prey to the seedy underbelly of famed Atlanta's strip club, Magic City. The two women, while leading very different lives, are on a collision course when their lives are suddenly connected as the drama, suspense, and mystery are amplified, motivated by corruption and money.

One thing you will always find in a Tyler Perry Production is drama, and Beauty in Black has lots of it! There is so much drama that the characters are driven by the circumstantial and environmental chaos they find themselves in. Set in Atlanta, the series is soapy and highly entertaining. Fans tuning in for a popcorn binge will see plenty of familiar faces from Perry's previous films, including heavy hitters such as the venerable Richard Lawson and Debbie Morgan, who always delivers emotional pathos in every role she is in. The ensemble cast is equally effective as the plot twists sizzle, leading to an exciting cliffhanger at the end of Part 1.
