Four years after The Terminal List left viewers reeling, Chris Pratt is back as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece, and the wait for Season 2 was worth every minute. The new season premiered on Prime Video on October 21, with all eight episodes of the action thriller dropping at once, giving fans plenty of reasons to clear their schedules. Based on Jack Carr’s second novel, True Believer, the new season takes everything that made the first outing so gripping and raises the stakes with a dangerous international conspiracy, explosive military operations, and a deeply troubled hero battling PTSD.
Season 1 left Reece with nothing to lose after the devastating deaths of his wife and daughter, caused by the betrayal of his best friend, Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch). Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Reese killing Edwards and paying a heavy emotional price. Pratt (who also serves as executive producer) makes it clear that surviving a war does not mean escaping its consequences.
When we reunite with Reece, he is still wrestling with grief and psychological trauma. When the CIA tracks him down, Reece agrees to help the agency locate suspected Al-Qaeda operative Amin al-Nawaz (Shadi Janho), hoping to secure a pardon and surgery for his brain tumor.

What begins as a mission with a clear objective quickly expands into a dangerous international conspiracy including terrorist networks and Russia.
In a statement, Pratt described the new season as a love letter to the special operations community, and that intention comes through in the show's attention to military detail and the physical and psychological demands placed on its characters. The action is fierce, relentless, and often brutally intense, with firefights, tactical operations, and combat that make every encounter feel pulverizing. The series has never been shy about showing the cost of violence, but Season 2 pushes that intensity to new levels.
Pratt remains the heart of the series, delivering a compelling performance as a man whose military training makes him exceptionally dangerous but cannot protect him from his own grief. Pratt balances Reece's physical intensity with glimpses of a man struggling to process unbearable loss, giving the character more depth than a typical action hero and steering the series toward the mix of emotional weight and full-throttle action that defines its identity.
The production deserves plenty of credit, too. The breathtaking cinematography and sweeping international locations give Season 2 a cinematic scale that feels right at home on the big screen. The direction keeps the action moving, while showrunner David DiGilio maintains a strong balance with the larger geopolitical conspiracy. The result is a season that feels bigger, grittier, and more ambitious without abandoning the emotional core that made the first season resonate.
The new season explores PTSD, grief, and betrayal alongside the explosive spectacle. The Terminal List Season 2 is a powerful return for the Prime Video thriller, delivering high-octane military action and a visually impressive season. Four years was a long time to wait, but Season 2 makes a convincing case that some missions are worth the delay, in an explosive return that raises the bar for the series.
The Terminal List Seasons 1-2 are streaming on Prime Video.
