The second and final season of Star Wars Andor premiered on April 22, 2025, on Disney+ with three of its twelve episodes. The critically acclaimed series is a prequel to Rogue One (2016) from a storied and beloved franchise dating back to the original Star Wars film (1977). The series follows rebel Cassian Andor, played by a flawless Diego Luna (who also serves as executive producer), exploring his journey to fight against the ruthless, oppressive Galactic Empire and the burgeoning Rebel Alliance.

Created and executive produced by Tony Gilroy along with Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Luke Hull, and LucasFilms, the cast includes Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O'Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, Alan Tudyk, Ben Mendelsohn, and Forest Whitaker.

The official synopsis reveals rife with political intrigue, danger, tension, and high stakes, "Andor" is a prequel to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire's weapon of mass destruction: The Death Star, setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film. "Andor" sets the clock back five years from the events of "Rogue One" to tell the story of the film's hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny. Andor Season 2 will see the characters and their relationships intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested, and as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices, and conflicting agendas will become profound.

This season is action-packed, fast-paced, gritty, and peels back the personal and psychological layers of what it truly means to go against an oppressive regime. Packed with political ambition, this season takes you on an emotional rollercoaster as we witness the sacrifice and courage it took for the Rebel Alliance to come together and take a stand against the Galactic Empire with a clear message that resonates in today's political climate. Deeply satisfying, thought-provoking, and inspirational with elevated production values, this season is nothing short of brilliant, far exceeding expectations.

The first three episodes of Andor are available to stream on Disney+, with three new episodes released every Tuesday through its finale on May 13, 2025.
