The hit series Landman returned for its sophomore season exclusively on Paramount+. Starring Billy Bob Thornton, the oil rigging drama co-created by the prolific Taylor Sheridan kicked off on November 16 with the first episode, "Death And A Sunset." New episodes will drop every Sunday through the season finale on January 18.
With Sheridan set to leave Paramount for NBCUniversal for a lucrative film and TV deal that will begin next year for the "Yellowstone" creator, the news left many fans wondering about the fate of their favorite shows, including mega hits Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, Tulsa King, and the titular Landman. Co-creator Christian Wallace told the Hollywood Reporter that fans shouldn't expect any immediate changes anytime soon.
The first episode of the new season continues with Sheridan's style of drama and chaos, with Tommy (Thornton) promoted to president of the fictional oil company, M-Tex, with even more responsibility and problems discovering embezzlement, wire fraud, and insurance fraud after the death of Monty (Jon Hamm). Set in the boomtown of West Texas, as oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy's breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller, and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn't noble – it's brutal. And sooner or later something's got to break.
In addition to Thornton, returning to raise the stakes this season are Demi Moore, Oscar, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, Colm Feore, and veteran Sam Elliott as Tommy's father, T.L., who's going to play an integral role this season complicating the family dynamics even further.
