The gripping new documentary, "My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story," produced by Forte Entertainment for See It Now Studios, chronicles the chilling terror actress Eva La Rue endured. This two-part series tells the harrowing true story of how the Emmy Award-winning actress and her daughter, Kaya, faced 12 years of terror at the hands of a relentless stalker. Operating from the shadows, he taunted and terrorized their lives while his identity remained a mystery, even to the FBI. LaRue reveals the constant fear, emotional toll, and the resolve, courage, and resilience it took to protect her family. The documentary premiered exclusively on Paramount+ on November 13.

LaRue began her career from humble beginnings and rose to stardom playing Maria Santos on the soap opera "All My Children," where she met and married her co-star, John Callahan, in 1996 but the couple divorced in 2005. She later starred in the hit drama "CSI: Miami," where she gained further prominence. On the surface, everything seemed like a fairytale, however beneath the fame and glamor, LaRue was being stalked by a dangerous psychopath named James David Rogers, who used the alias "Freddie Krueger." From 2007 to 2022, he sent her graphic and disturbing letters detailing his intentions to rape and kill them.

Not knowing who the anonymous stalker was, LaRue lived in constant fear for her life and her daughter as the letters became increasingly unhinged and disturbing. In the documentary, LaRue recounts her continuous fear and anxiety, which led to her sleeping with a weapon under her bed and seeking professional gun training. She was forced to move three times, and the ordeal left her in a perpetual state of panic, affecting her relationships and causing her to lose her hair. As a result, she implemented advanced security measures throughout her home.

"There was no place to hide because you don't know where he could be, so you are really in a prison of your own making because you are trying to be four steps ahead of what he could do, and those possibilities are endless," LaRue said. With reenactment added for maximum impact, the actress questioned the technology used to find her stalker, stating, "What is crazy is we, on 'CSI: Miami,' we were solving cases in 43 minutes, not including commercials. In real life, we did not have the technology we were pretending to have on the show."

Using advanced DNA testing, the FBI finally arrested Rogers in Ohio in November 2019. In September 2022, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 months in prison.

With her stalker now behind bars, LaRue and her daughter can finally breathe again, however after years of harassment, LaRue doubts they will ever feel entirely safe. "Your brain never goes back to not being hyper vigilant," she stated. When asked why she decided to share her story, LaRue explained she wanted to empower fellow stalking victims and to stand up for stronger protective laws.

"My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story" is streaming now on Paramount+.
