"The Family Business," currently airing on BET+, is one of the network's best crime dramas. It stars Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, The Crowe) and Valarie Pettiford (Half and Half). Carl Weber created and executive produced the series, developed from his best-selling line of books. The series follows the Duncans, a seemingly upstanding family that owns and operates an exotic car dealership in New York but lives a dangerous double life by night.

The Duncans' family ties have reached the breaking point as they face secrets from the past that threaten everything they've built... But this time, their enemies are coming from inside the family, and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Season 5 returns to a civil war between LC Duncan and their clan and their biggest enemy to date...one of his sons.

Produced by Tri Destined Studios and directed by Trey Haley, it's executive produced by the main principles of Connie Orlando, Maureen Guthman, and Nikaya D. Brown Jones. Jeffrey Dumpson, Walter Nixon, Sean Ringgold, Abe Brown, Greg Anderson, and Veronica Nichols also produce "The Family Business."

The series premiered on BET on November 3, 2018, and has steadily gained a loyal fanbase since its debut. According to BET, its popularity surged even further when it premiered on Netflix, consistently ranking in the Top 10 series list for four consecutive weeks earlier this year.

The series was initially slated to be an independent film however BET recognized its potential, greenlit, and expanded the budget, changing it to a series with 8 episodes in its first year. The series then moved to BET+, producing 12 episodes in its second year, 12 episodes in its third, 10 episodes in its fourth, and another 10 episodes in its current fifth season.

Hudson, who also serves as executive producer, remains hopeful that the series extends beyond this season. In a statement to BET, he shared, "I hope we get more seasons. We do these things, and you are still determining what the network will decide. But the ratings are good. More and more fans have contacted me about "The Family Business" no matter where I travel. That's very exciting because, in the beginning, I said I wasn't sure if anybody would even find it, but people have, and they love the show. So, hopefully, we'll have more seasons to come".
