The highly anticipated British psychological thriller The Devil's Hour is back for its sophomore season exclusively on Prime Video after two years since the first season, which had six episodes when it debuted on October 2022. It premiers today with the same exciting thrills of the first season. A third season was already renewed when season 2 was announced and both seasons were shot back to back.
Produced by Hartswood Films, the series is created and written by Tom Moran and executive produced by Sue Vertue, Tom Moran, and Steven Moffatt. Lawrence Till is the producer with directors Johnny Allan, Isabelle Sieb, and Shaun James Grant.
The series follows Lucy Clayton, a social worker who inexplicably wakes at exactly 3:33 am every morning. The hour between 3-4 am is known as the "Devil's hour," when unexplainable things occur. For Lucy, that means experiencing horrific nightmares and constantly worrying about her eight-year-old son, Issac, when he becomes withdrawn, showing disturbing behavior. It is later revealed that her son can travel through different timelines. Lucy continuously has foreboding premonitions about her life and is inexplicably connected to a series of murders. Detective Dhillon leads the manhunt to get to the bottom of the truth, and Lucy encounters Shephard, the mysterious criminal who is connected to the murders but also happens to know more about the intricacies of Lucy's life than even she does. Season 1 ends on a tantalizing cliffhanger with a face-off between Shephard and Lucy, who reveal his true intentions, which involve an exploration of rebirth and alternate timelines to stop heinous criminals from perpetrating crimes before they happen.

The official season two synopsis sees Lucy and Gideon forming an uneasy alliance in order to prevent a recurring tragedy and hunt down an elusive monster. Lucy's double life sees her torn between family and duty as she finds herself in the crosshairs of her past-life husband, DI Ravi Dhillon. Assisting Dhillon in his investigation is DS Sam Boyd (Saffron Hocking) who was mentored by DI Lucy Chambers in a previous life. Meanwhile, Isaac is discovering new emotions every day and struggling to keep his balance in a reality that rejects his existence. Fresh mysteries unfold as our stories converge on one explosive moment that will change the fate of our characters for the rest of their ever-recurring lives.
The Devil's Hour continues to deliver strong performances from its two leads, Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine, with Capaldi shining as the sinister Shepherd. Many revelations will come to light as many questions will be answered, and many more will arise, keeping the audience engaged as the show continues to deliver ambitious supernatural elements with a perfect amount of horror and suspense keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. With the next season being the third and last in the trilogy series, we can hopefully expect that the third season will not take another two years to premiere.
