Prime Video delivered one of those unforgettable experiences this year as more than 6,500 fans packed Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con for an electrifying return to Middle-earth for a breathtaking first look at Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Sauron's long-awaited plan to forge the One Ring is finally in motion, setting the stage for a war that threatens every kingdom, every race, and every soul standing between him and absolute domination. The sweeping visuals tease colossal battles, towering fortresses, magical confrontations, and emotional sacrifices that promise to reshape Middle-earth forever unleashing the full fury of the Dark Lord.
Familiar heroes find themselves pushed to their limits while unexpected alliances begin to emerge out of sheer necessity. Comic-Con attendees also received several exciting casting announcements that immediately sent fans into speculation mode.
Joining the expanding ensemble is Eddie Marsan as Thrain, the older brother of King Durin IV, a character whose arrival could dramatically alter the future of Khazad-dûm. Andrew Richardson steps into the role of Anarion, the younger son of Elendil and brother to Isildur, adding another pivotal figure from Tolkien's legendary history. Meanwhile, Adam Young takes on the mysterious Orc Marnûkh, whose true loyalties appear far more complicated than fans might expect. Those reveals follow two headline-making announcements earlier in the week. Jamie Campbell Bower enters Middle-earth as Celeborn, Galadriel's long-lost husband, while Zubin Varla portrays Khamûl the Easterling, a legendary figure whose destiny is deeply intertwined with Sauron's growing influence.
In Season Three, Middle-earth is at war. Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies have marched across the whole of the world, conquering all in their path. Only a few isolated pockets stand between the Dark Lord and total victory – Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves are now sealed deep within their mountain halls, and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, which are protected by their Three Rings. But deep in the land of Mordor, in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord toils day and night, obsessed with harnessing a power that will bring the last of his enemies to their knees: One Ring to rule them all... Now, all the free peoples of Middle-earth – Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards alike – must find a way to come together, in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of utter domination of all life…
The first four episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premiere November 11, 2026, on Prime Video, followed by Episodes 5 and 6 on November 18, with the epic two-part season finale arriving November 25.
