"The Acolyte" is Disney+'s latest science fiction series and part of the Star Wars franchise. The first two episodes premiered with 4.8 million viewers, marking Disney+'s largest premiere in 2024.
Debuting on June 4th, "The Acolyte" exceeded expectations, prompting Disney to make the official announcement. If it can maintain its momentum, the series is well on its way to surpassing the success of "Ahosaka," another Star Wars series that drew 14 million views in its first five days.
Disney's official synopsis states, "A hundred years before the rise of the Empire, the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic have prospered for centuries without war. During this time, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a Jedi Master against a dangerous warrior from his past."
The 8-episode series, produced by Lucasfilm, features a stellar cast, with Amandla Stenberg in the lead role. Stenberg is known for her roles in "The Hunger Games" and "The Hate U Give".
The ensemble also includes Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, Abigail Thorn, Amy Tsang, and David Harewood.
Don't miss "The Acolyte," now streaming on Disney+.
