Countdown is the latest high-octane drama series exclusively from Prime Video starring Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane. It premiered on June 25 with the first three of its thirteen episodes and quickly established its thrilling pace within the first five minutes. New episodes will drop weekly through its season finale on September 3.

When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Ackles, is recruited by FBI director Nathan Blythe (Eric Dane) to a secret task force alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate. But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.

The series is created by showrunner and executive producer Derek Haas (NBC's Chicago universe). In addition to Ackles and Dane, rounding out the supporting cast are Jessica Camacho as Amber Oliveras, Violett Beane as Evan Shepherd, Elliot Knight as Keyonte Bell, and Uli Latukefu as Lucas Finau.

Countdown is an adrenaline rush from start to finish, and the ten episodes available for review are rather impressive. If the superlative action sequences weren't enough, the star presence of Ackles from Supernatural and The Boys fame, as a wise-cracking, hard-nosed detective saving the day, makes for a super cool series. There are other aspects as well that contribute to the drama, such as our hero battling a personal crisis, which adds another layer of complexity to the drama and suspense. Every episode is supercharged as personality clashes between Meachum and members of the task force from the DEA, FBI, LAPD, and other federal agencies create an interesting dynamic within the larger ensemble cast that really makes the series work.

Thrilling, relentless, and bursting with action, Countdown delivers on every level and keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

The first three episodes are currently available on Prime Video.
