After a two year torturous wait, the second season of Peacock's hilarious and hugely underrated series "Poker Face" premiered on May 8 with its first three episodes. The new season carries 12 episodes, two more than season 1, releasing weekly new episodes every Thursday through its season finale on July 10, 2025.
Created by Rian Johnson (Looper, Knives Out) with showrunner Tony Tost, the series stars Emmy nominated Natasha Lyonne (who also serves as executive producer) as Charlie Cale, a human lie detector with the extraordinary ability to know when someone is lying. Hitting the road with her Plymouth Barracuda, she travels across country and encounters a new cast of star studded, high profile guest stars and strange crimes she can't help but investigate in episodic murder mysteries very reminiscent of classics Columbo and Murder She Wrote. In the first season, Charlie found herself on the run from a rival casino owner, getting herself tangled with mob boss Beatrix Hasp (a fantastic Rhea Pearlman).

Previewing the second season in a joint statement, Johnson and Lyonne revealed, "Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in Season 2, we've taken her journey to the next level, one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability."
The series is delightfully funny, engaging, and witty, anchored by Cale's charismatic performance in each episode that is both campy and fun. The series, never taking itself seriously, works with Cale's detective skills that is highly amusing anchored by the star studded guest stars we can expect in each episode. Some of the guest stars this season include Cynthia Erivo in multiple roles as well as Awkwafina, Carol Kane, Cliff "Method Man" Smith, Corey Hawkins, Haley Joel Osment, Jason Ritter, John Cho, Justin Theroux, Kathrine Narducci, Kevin Corrigan, Simon Rex, David Alan Grier, Taylor Schilling, Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, and Sam Richardson, to name a few.
"Poker Face" is highly entertaining, providing humor while paying heartfelt homage to earlier classics. With its charm and engaging personality, the series stands out as a modern gem.
The first three episodes of Poker Face are currently streaming on Peacock. Be sure to catch the first season, also available to stream.
