The first two episodes of Pixar's first TV Series for Disney+, "Win or Lose," premiered today. This wonderful family series reminds us of the wholesome message about love, compassion, and empathy. The series boasts 8 episodes, with new episodes released weekly through its finale on April 2, 2025.
Created, written, and directed by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, who also served as executive producers with David Lally, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Lindsey Collins, the series follows the interconnected lives of the Pickles, eight unique characters as they each prepare for the big championship softball game at their middle school. In the week leading up to the big game, each character is featured in a separate episode with a different perspective, including the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, and even a lovesick umpire!
The voice cast includes Will Forte, Rosie Foss, Josh Thomson, Milan Elizabeth Ray, Rosa Salazar, Dorien Watson, Izaac Wang, Chanel Stewart, Lil Rel Howery, Melissa Villaseñor, Jo Firestone, Flula Borg, Kyleigh Curran, Jaylin Fletcher, Erin Keif, Tom Law, Beck Nolan, Orion Tran, and Rhea Seehorn

This series is an instant classic. It is simple yet powerful and just so darn cute! The first episode introduces us to Laurie, who does not want to disappoint her dad, who is also the coach. With shades of Pixar's other classic, Inside Out, we see her anxiety weigh heavily on her back as she wants to impress her dad after accidentally injuring her team's best player. The episode beautifully illustrates what it feels like to feel burdened with unnecessary pressures we place upon ourselves through self-doubt. The following episodes are also incredibly heartfelt and packs an emotional punch. We are introduced to Frank, the referee and a teacher at the school who uses a dating app because he's lonely. Rochelle, Vanessa's oldest daughter, is a single mother who feels the need to shoulder some of her mom's responsibilities. Vanessa who loves her children dearly but seeks validation through social media are among the characters featured.
"Win or Lose" is aptly titled, mirroring relatable, personal emotions that we each go through in life, offering glimpses of what it feels like to walk in another person's shoes. The series is a wonderful depiction of human emotions from an animated perspective that will resonate with each viewer.
The first episode of Win or Lose is streaming now on Disney+.
