"Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist" is an upcoming eight-episode limited series produced by NBCUniversal. It is set to premiere on Peacock on September 5.
The star-studded cast will bring to life the infamous heist that took place on the night of Muhammad Ali's return to boxing on October 26, 1970, transforming Atlanta into the "Black Mecca".
In December 2023, it was announced that Kevin Hart would star and executive produce the series. The principal cast was added in January 2024, with other members joining in February 2024. Filming began on February 12, 2024, in Atlanta.
Created by Shaye Ogbonna and Craig Brewer and based on the 2020 iHeart true-crime podcast of the same name, the series stars Kevin Hart as Gordon "Chicken Man" Williams, who hosts a party to celebrate the fight with a guest list of the country's wealthiest. The night ends with the most brazen criminal underworld heist in Atlanta's history.
When Chicken man is accused of orchestrating the brazen robbery, he is hellbent on clearing his name but must convince his old adversary, J.D. Hudson (Don Cheadle), one of the first Black detectives in the city's desegregated police force, who is tasked with bringing those responsible to justice, according to Peacock's official press release.

When the official teaser dropped on Wednesday, Peacock gave viewers their first look at the star-studded series. The teaser revealed the impressive cast, which includes Samuel L. Jackson, Terrence Howard, Dexter Darden, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, Chloe Bailey, Melvin Gregg, Jalyn Hall, Clifton Powell, Lori Harvey, Marsha Stephanie Blake, and Rockmond Dunbar.
"On the biggest night in Atlanta history, there's only one place you had to be, and this little shindig is just the beginning," Kevin Hart's character says in a voiceover, setting the mood and tone. However, that tone immediately shifts when cops bust in armed and ready, and Don Cheadle announces in character that the whole city is about to be a crime scene.

In an article for Vanity Fair, Ogbanna expressed his opinion that Chicken Man would typically be portrayed as a marginalized criminal in most movies and TV shows focusing on the criminal world. He further explained that hustlers in his community were multidimensional individuals involved in family, community, church, and politics.
Kevin Hart conveyed his excitement for the film, stating that this project has sparked a new level of enthusiasm in him.
"Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist" streams exclusively on Peacock starting on Thursday, September 5.
