The wait is finally over. After almost two and a half years, the second and final season of the hilarious hit comedy "Mo" returned to Netflix on January 30 with eight episodes. Starring Mo Amer as Mo Najjar, the series is loosely adapted from Amer's own life and follows a Palestinian refugee living in Houston, Texas, seeking asylum and U.S. citizenship. Najjar takes fans along for the ride for the comedic and sometimes realistic journey as an immigrant living in America.
Created and executive produced by Amer and Ramy Youssef, the series is produced by A24 and Cairo Cowboy.
The series stars:
Mo Amer as Mohammed "Mo" Najjar
Teresa Ruiz as Maria
Farah Bsieso as Yusra Najjar
Tobe Nwigwe as Nick
Michael Y. Kim as Chien
Lee Eddy as Lizzie Horowitz
Cherien Dabis as Nadia Robinson
Omar Elba as Sameer Najjar, Mo's brother
Mariah Albishah as young Nadia Najjar
Ahmad Rajeh as young Mohammed "Mo" Najjar

The first season premiered in August 2022 to critical acclaim when we were first introduced to the titular character. Mo has never been to Palestine, and the process for asylum has been stuck in a holding pattern for several years, with the complications of the immigration process forcing Mo to take side jobs and hustle bootleg items to survive. Season 1 introduced us to his traditional mother and girlfriend Maria, where cultural and personal differences arose in their relationship, forcing Maria to break up with him. At the heart of the series is Mo, who is literally and figuratively trying to find his way in a broken immigration system. Shouldering the responsibility for his family's well-being, the show hilariously explores how his Palestinian culture has grounded him to seek better despite his current circumstances with the insurmountable odds stacked against him. The second season picks up right where season 1 ended, with Mo painstakingly stranded in Mexico after following a lead on his mom's olive trees, unable to return to Houston for his asylum hearing.
Speaking with Netflix's Tudum, Amer shares, “I know my own story better than anybody else, and I’m very grateful for the team around me, who were great sounding boards and trusted me to take the story to where it needed to be to fulfill my vision. I was so blessed to be able to fully execute what I actually wanted to do.”
Tune in to the much anticipated final season to see if Mo finally makes it back to America as the series concludes this entertaining chapter of Mo's life.
All 8 episodes of Mo is currently streaming on Netflix.
