Tyler Perry's "Divorce In The Black" is the newest film by Perry, set to debut on Amazon Prime on July 11. The Amazon MGM film, written, directed, and produced by Perry, follows Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband, Dallas, abandons her. Ava is determined to fight for her marriage until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas' wicked deeds that have destroyed their relationship and sabotaged Ava's chance to be with her true soulmate, according to Amazon's official release.
The film features Megan Good as Ava and Cory Hardrict as Dallas, with Joseph Lee Anderson, Shannon Wallace, Taylor Polidore, Richard Lawson, and Debbi Morgan rounding out the cast.

In the movie trailer released on Thursday, we witness Ava and Dallas on a double date with friends, and Dallas's behavior indicates that Ava is in an abusive relationship. Upon returning home, we observe themes of God, religion, and faith - staples of Perry's work - which play a crucial role in Ava's journey to leave her abusive marriage finding love. However, it's not an easy path as Dallas is determined to destroy her happiness.
When asked to elaborate on Ava's character, Perry said, "Making "Divorce In The Black" was born out of wanting to tell Ava's story. She is surrounded by all this power through her foundation – her family and friends. She has all the power inside of her, but that power is somehow lost in her marriage, so it was important for her character to find her way, to show that journey back to her power."
"Divorce In The Black" is the second film in a four-part movie deal with Amazon Studios, announced in November 2022. Perry is committed to delivering two additional projects with Amazon Studios.
The film will stream exclusively on Prime Video starting July 11, 2024.
