Kyla Pratt returns to Lifetime in the chilling movie "The Girl in the Cellar." The new film is the latest addition to the "Ripped from the Headlines" series within the expanding "The Girl" franchise. The film follows Lifetime's true crime movies Girl in the Attic, Girl in the Garage, Girl Locked Upstairs, Girl in the Video, Girl in Room 13, Girl in the Basement, Girl in the Bunker, Girl in the Box, and Girl in the Shed.
Starring Kyla Pratt (The Proud Family) and Kelcey Mawema (Cruel Instruction), the gripping film follows a single mother who resorts to extreme measures to control her teenage daughter.
Produced by Navid Soofi for PF Maple Productions Inc. in association with Studio TF1 America, the film is written by Eva Gonzalez Szigriszt and directed by Robert Adetuyi. The official synopsis reveals that Rebecca (Kyla Pratt) grows increasingly concerned that her daughter, Lory (Kelcey Mawema), is not making the right life choices. The final straw comes when Rebecca learns that Lory has a secret boyfriend, and to prevent any further mistakes, she decides to confine Lory in their basement cellar. What Lory doesn't know is that this is the same cellar where Rebecca was held captive by her abusive father years ago. As Lory battles for survival, the neighbors begin to notice her absence, and Rebecca's behavior draws suspicion, making her a prime suspect in her daughter's disappearance. Haunted by her traumatic past, Rebecca grapples with her actions and the conflicting feelings of guilt and justification over what she has done.
Don't miss this bone chilling film that will leave every parent on edge and every teenager's heart racing in fear. The story delves into the complex layers of psychological trauma stemming from years of unresolved pain and generational abuse, triggering devastating consequences.
The Girl in the Cellar premieres exclusively on Lifetime tonight at 8/7c.
