Keke Palmer and SZA shines in "One Of Them Days"

"One Of Them Days" is the hilarious new comedy by Sony Pictures that debuted nationally in theaters on January 17, staring Keke Palmer in her feature film debut and SZA, the musical entertainer, as two best friends and roommates Dreux and Alyssa, who discover Alyssa's boyfriend has blown their rent on his T-Shirt business. Set in Los Angeles, they are down on their luck, but the tenacious duo has until 6 pm to come up with the money before they get evicted. The besties find themselves in one hilarious adventure after another to avoid eviction while maintaining their friendship. The film debuted at no 1 with $14M in its opening weekend at the domestic box office and has already recouped its production budget.

Written by Syreeta Singleton and directed by Lawrence Lamont, additional producers include Issa Rae, with the hilarious Katt Williams and Janelle James also starring.

"One Of Them Days" is reminiscent of classic African American films such as B.A.P.S., Friday, and House Party, and it's also worth noting that it's the first Black female-led theatrical release since 2017's Girls Trip. With a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Palmer and SZA have excellent chemistry and great comedic timing. The always reliable Katt Williams delivers the laughs, and the supporting cast continues with rich humor representative of Black culture.

Beyond the laughs is a film that showcases the power of friendship between the ladies, which is genuinely authentic as they race against time and are rewarded for their resilience in surprising ways. Dreux is a waitress aspiring to be a franchise manager, and Alyssa is a an up and coming artist. The movie has a lot of heart with the perfect balance of comedy and inspiration that will leave fans pleasantly uplifted.
