Kaley Cuoco stars in the new limited series Vanished, which premiered on MGM+ on Sunday, February 1, and features more twists and turns than a salted pretzel.
Cuoco, best known as Penny on The Big Bang Theory, takes on a more dramatic turn in the new limited series as Alice Monroe, a young woman who is drawn into a dark web of intrigue and danger following the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend, Tom (Sam Claflin), during a romantic getaway to the south of France. Alice's search for Tom triggers a series of events that reveal shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew.
The series features a strong supporting cast, including Matthias Schweighöfer as Alex Durand, Karin Viard as Helene Lando, Simon Abkarian as Inspector Drax, and Dar Zuzovsky as Mira Mazraoui, adding to the tension and suspense.
Created by David Hilton (My Little Eye) and Preston Thompson (Pixie), the series is directed by Barnaby Thompson (Pixie, St Trinians), who takes his time showcasing the sweeping, romantic views of Marseille and Paris, which serve as the backdrop for the four-part miniseries, delivering plenty of intrigue.
As the series unfolds, Alice's picture-perfect life spirals out of control as she delves deeper into the truth, effectively raising the stakes. She's not playing some flawless action hero; she's stressed, confused, scared, and running mostly on adrenaline and stubbornness, and this is precisely why the series works.
The series, while short, moves quickly and doesn't waste time on filler. Each episode adds another layer, another twist, and builds momentum to the thrilling finale slated for February 22.
The first episode of Vanished is available now on MGM+
