"Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action," takes us on a revealing look behind the scenes

The Jerry Springer show, the syndicated daytime talk show, was at the top of its game in the 90s and will forever live in infamy for its controversial topics. The sensationalistic program tapped into the bombastic appetite of an audience who wanted more. More melodrama, more fights, more chaos, more outlandish paternity tests, and love triangles that propelled the show with flying chairs to the top of the ratings chart making it a cultural phenomenon. Jerry Springer, the late former Cincinnati mayor and Daytime TV host, was too happy to oblige.

The daytime talk show ran for 27 seasons from 1991 to 2018, and the new Netflix special, which premiers on Tuesday, January 7, introduces a two-part documentary series that explores the show's winning formula to its success as it goes behind the scenes of America's most controversial talk show to expose its biggest scandals, both on- and off-camera. With never-before-seen footage and raw testimonials from producers, insiders, and past guests, the testimonials reveal the darker truth that lay hidden behind the scenes. Exposing the untold legacy of the show that started with its origins with tepid ratings from the beginning covering conventional, wholesome topics to its strategic change with scandalous topics that saw the ratings skyrocket nationally.
