Goosebumps: The Vanishing is the new chilling but fun serialized anthology series from Disney based on R.L Stein's widely popular series of books. It is the second season in the series, with the first premiering in October 2023. The new storyline follows fraternal twins Devin and Cece, sent to spend the summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn, with their recently divorced dad, scientist Anthony Brewer (David Schwimmer). They soon discover sinister secrets in their neighborhood and the teens must band together in the new mystery. The series premiered on January 10 on both Disney+ and Hulu.

The Real Perspectives was excited when it was first announced that there would be a second season. We are huge fans of R.L Stein's books and even bigger fans of the franchise. When Friends David Schwimmer was confirmed to be a part of the second season, we were sold!

Created by Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller, the series stars David Schwimmer as Anthony Brewer, Ana Ortiz as Jen Morales, Isabella Ferreira as Young Jen, Sam McCarthy as Devin Brewer, Jayden Bartels as Cece Brewer, Elijah M. Cooper as CJ, Galilea La Salvia as Frankie, and Francesca Noel as Alex Morales.

The season begins in 1994 when four teenagers encounter a menacing threat that kills one of the teens and changes their lives forever. Thirty years later, Brewer, still reeling from the death of his brother, has transformed into an adorable dork of a father and an obsessive botanist. The generational and cultural gap between the kids and Brewer makes the show instantly relatable to teens, and older fans will appreciate the call back to the spooky reads that gave quite the jump scare. Schwimmer shines balancing comedy with the events from the past merging with the present especially when the twins and their friends are faced with the same threat of 1994. Schwimmer is a fantastic addition, anchoring the younger cast in their teen drama as each teen gets the opportunity to be spooked with focus given to their angst.

The series offers genuine chills and thrills, proving that you do not have to be a fan of R.L Stein to enjoy the series for what it is - pure, unadulterated fun. An added bonus is the touch of nostalgia the series brings for older fans, remembering the countless adolescent hours reading the paperback thrills.

All 8 episodes of Goosebumps: The Vanishing is currently streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
