The King of the Monsters is back and this time there may be no escape.

TOHO and GKIDS have unleashed the first full trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the highly anticipated follow up to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the new film returns audiences to postwar Japan, where a fragile sense of recovery is about to be shattered all over again.

Set in 1949, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla Minus Zero brings back the Shikishima family as Japan attempts to rebuild its future. But just when life begins to feel normal again, Godzilla returns with a new level of destruction and the trailer makes it clear that humanity is facing something far more terrifying than anyone could have imagined.

The new footage delivers massive destruction, emotional stakes and an ominous warning that this battle could be the one that ends everything. With Yamazaki once again handling the writing, directing and visual effects, the sequel pushes the franchise's spectacle even further while keeping its human characters at the center of the chaos.

Adding to the cinematic scale, Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese production filmed specifically for IMAX, promising an enormous theatrical experience when Godzilla storms back onto the big screen.

After the cultural impact of Godzilla Minus One, expectations are sky high and this trailer suggests Yamazaki isn't simply bringing Godzilla back. He's bringing the nightmare back bigger, louder and more terrifying than ever.

Godzilla Minus Zero opens in North American theaters November 6, 2026, following its Japanese release on November 3.
