Gabrielle Union is entering the supernatural horror world with Casket Girls, a new thriller from QC Entertainment, the producers behind Get Out and BlacKkKlansman. Union, who also serves as an executive producer, stars opposite Mike Colter in the chilling New Orleans-set story.
Union plays Detective Shay Williams, whose investigation into a child's mysterious supernatural encounter takes a horrifying turn when she and her partner, Galpin (Colter), accidentally unleash the legendary Casket Girls from beneath a centuries-old church. Suddenly trapped underground with a group of survivors, the detectives must fight their way through the darkness as the bloodthirsty vampires begin picking them off one by one.
The first look puts Union front and center as a determined detective forced into a fight for survival. With its New Orleans setting, ancient vampire mythology and deadly underground mystery, Casket Girls looks ready to deliver plenty of scares alongside its character driven story.
Aura Entertainment CEO Marc Goldberg praised the film while highlighting Union and Colter's performances and QC Entertainment's reputation for elevated genre storytelling. "Casket Girls is the kind of genre film we built Aura to release,” said Goldberg. “It’s a propulsive, character-driven horror thriller with a mythology as rich as its scares.
No release date has been set for the supernatural thriller.
