The 76th annual Emmy nominations for recognizing artistic and technical excellence in the television industry were announced on Wednesday. With programming airing between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024 for eligibility, it was hosted by Sheryl Lee Ralph, who won an Emmy in 2022 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for "Abbot Elementary," and Tony Hale, who won two Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for "Veep." The announcement was streamed live from the historic El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles.

Ralph, who stars as Barbara Howard on the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary, was in for a surprise during the ceremony when Television Academy chair Chris Abrego surprised her with her third Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for "Abbot Elementary." An elated Ralph danced on stage, exclaiming, "Honey, that never gets old! Never gets old!"
