The last time we saw funny man Eddie Murphy was in the highly anticipated sequel "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," where he reprised his role as Axel Foley in the beloved Beverly Hills Cop franchise that made him a household name. He's back with his latest comedy-action film, "The Pickup," available on Prime Video, produced by Amazon MGM Studios. The film, which co-stars former SNL alum Pete Davidson, premiered on August 6.
Written by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows and directed by Tim Story, the film follows a routine cash pickup that takes a wild turn when mismatched armored truck drivers Russell (Eddie Murphy) and Travis (Pete Davidson) are ambushed by ruthless criminals led by savvy mastermind Zoe (Keke Palmer). As chaos erupts, the unlikely duo must navigate danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps spiraling out of control.
Adding to the fun, additional cast members include Jack Kesy as Banner, Ismael Cruz Córdova as Miguel, Eva Longoria as Natalie Pierce, Andrew Dice Clay as Clark, Jef Holbrook as Mikey, Marshawn Lynch as Chop Shop, and Lara Grice as a waitress.
"The Pickup" is currently holding at the number 2 spot on Prime Video, proving that Eddie Murphy still has it after all these years. Murphy and Davidson play well off each other, delivering excellent comedic timing and entertaining antics, while Palmer's magnetic charisma shines throughout the film. The latest heist caper offers a ton of car chase sequences, plenty of action, humor, and fun. The talented cast and star power of Murphy, Davidson, Palmer, and Langoria make the film worth watching.
The Pickup is streaming now on Prime Video.
